A longtime Ottawa-area Enbridge Gas Distribution employee and a GTA employee's daughter are being recognized by the company for their outstanding service to their communities as National Volunteer Week events take place across the country.

Mark Mullan, a Customer Connections Field Representative in the Ottawa office celebrating his 33rd year with Enbridge this June, and Jessica Rosenbloom, the daughter of Change Management Specialist David Rosenbloom in the Toronto office, are dedicated volunteers for the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) and The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), respectively.

Mark will be given the Enbridge Gas Distribution Employee Volunteer of the Year award, and Jessica will receive the company's 2014 Janet Holder Student Volunteer of the Year award.

Their personal and family experiences with serious childhood disease drove them to become involved with the hospitals in Ottawa and Toronto.

Mark's youngest daughter Morgan spent the first month of her life in CHEO's neo-natal intensive care unit, and ever grateful for the care that she received, he wanted to find a way to give back to the hospital and support the services they provide to other children. Since 1995, Mark has coordinated fundraising auctions and raffles for CHEO and leads Enbridge's local fundraising for the hospital's foundation, raising over $364,500 over the past two decades and volunteering about 500 hours every year.

Jessica Rosenbloom, an 11 year old brain tumour survivor, raises awareness and funds for pediatric brain tumour research through her Cookies 4 Tough Cookies (C4TC) community-wide bake sale that raised more than $23,000 in 2014. Known as "One Tough Cookie" for her determination and positivity in the face of difficult health challenges, she is also an ambassador for SickKids, encouraging and inspiring Ontario families through media and public appearances who are dealing with brain tumours.

Proud of his daughter's commitment to giving back to the hospital that helped her through three brain surgeries, chemotherapy, and countless tests and procedures, David Rosenbloom nominated Jessica for Enbridge's volunteer award given to children of employees.

With National Volunteer Week underway, Enbridge Gas Distribution will recognize these two exemplary people at their Volunteers in Partnership (VIP) Awards Ceremony this week.

Enbridge has a proud history of supporting the community. By supporting organizations and activities that contribute to social wellbeing, Enbridge strives to help build healthy, vibrant and sustainable communities.
