Enbridge Gas Distribution Employees Working Together To Clean Air Commute

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 14, 2010) - Enbridge Gas Distribution Inc. (TSX:ENB) (NYSE:ENB) and many of its employees will be finding cleaner ways to commute to and from work during the Clean Air Commute 2010, which runs from June 14 to 18.

As a proud sponsor of Pollution Probe's 2010 Clean Air Commute, Enbridge and its participating employees will help reduce smog by carpooling, walking, taking public transit, cycling or ensuring their vehicles are tuned up.

Enbridge will encourage employee participation through employee information sessions and giveaways. In doing so, it hopes to build momentum and defend its 2009 Pollution Probe employee participation award. Enbridge employees, like other participants in the Greater Toronto Area, will track their commutes on individual diary cards to monitor their ongoing progress. To further enhance Clean Air Commute efforts, Enbridge and other utilities will participate in the 'Utility Cup,' a friendly competition that recognizes the utility with the highest employee participation.

"Enbridge's commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions is seen in our daily business operations, including our award-winning natural gas fueled commercial fleet," says Janet Holder, President, Enbridge Gas Distribution. "I'm proud that our employees also actively help reduce air pollutants on a regular basis, as demonstrated by the continued growth of our vanpool program."

Enbridge Gas Distribution's company-supported vanpool program helps reduce the number of vehicles on the road, helping reduce carbon dioxide emissions. The natural gas-powered vans accommodate up to nine employees each and operate out of Barrie, Courtice, Ajax and Pickering, Keswick, Mississauga, Newmarket, Oshawa, Ottawa and now Brampton.

Enbridge Gas Distribution is also helping to support a cleaner air future with the conversion of 95 percent of its eligible fleet to run on natural gas, resulting in a significant reduction of vehicle emissions. The company earned the first E3 Fleet Gold Rating from the Fraser Basin Council for environmental excellence in Canadian fleet management. This year, Enbridge became the first fleet in Canada to make use of medium-duty truck vehicles with dedicated Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) engines.

Enbridge Gas Distribution has a 160-year history and is Canada's largest natural gas distribution company. It is owned by Enbridge Inc., a Canadian-based leader in energy transportation and distribution and one of the 2010 Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations. Enbridge Inc. has been selected as one of Canada's Greenest Employers for 2010 and is one of Canada's Top 100 Employers. Enbridge Gas Distribution and its affiliates distribute natural gas to about 1.9 million customers in Ontario, Quebec, New York State and New Brunswick. For more information visit www.enbridgegas.com.
