Enbridge Gas Distribution Increases Energy Efficiency Incentives for Commercial and Industrial Customers
TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 17, 2009) - A long-time leader in energy efficiency, Enbridge Gas Distribution (TSX:ENB) (NYSE:ENB) has now made it even easier for its commercial and industrial customers to incorporate energy efficiency upgrades in their facilities by making larger financial incentives available to qualifying customers.

Commercial and industrial customers can take advantage of these enhanced financial incentives by implementing one or more energy efficiency upgrades that result in natural gas savings in their existing buildings:

- Commercial customers: a new single financial incentive of 10 cents per cubic metre (cents/m3) on the projected first year's natural gas savings, up to a maximum of $100,000; and,

- Industrial customers: a financial incentive of 5 cents/m3 on the projected first year's natural gas savings, up to a new maximum of $100,000.

The New Building Construction Program (NBCP) has increased its incentive to 10 cents/m3 on the projected first year's natural gas savings, up to a maximum of $30,000 per building. This is an increase from 7.5 cents/m3 and a maximum of $15,000 per building. This program offers incentives for energy efficiency measures implemented into the design and construction of a new building.

"Enbridge Gas Distribution wants to help our customers identify the highest energy-savings potential in their facilities," said Arunas Pleckaitis, Vice President, Enbridge Gas Distribution. "Particularly in today's tough economic environment, increasing our customers energy savings will not only improve the bottom-line of their business, but also help stimulate continued investment in new technologies that will move us towards a clean energy economy."

The new incentives will apply to qualifying energy efficiency measures implemented between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009. The incentive payment cannot exceed 50 per cent of a project's capital cost. Additional incentives may be available for larger projects.
