Enbridge Extends Home Weatherization Retrofit Program Until November 2009
TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 23, 2009) - Enbridge Gas Distribution Inc. (Enbridge) (TSX:ENB) (NYSE:ENB) has extended its Home Weatherization Retrofit Program. The program helps households in financial need reduce their energy bills by implementing energy efficiency measures, such as insulating attics and walls and draft proofing, at no cost. All applications, along with proof of eligibility, must be received before November 30, 2009.

The program is available to qualifying Enbridge customers in the City of Toronto, Peel Region, York Region, Durham Region, the City of Ottawa, and the counties of Renfrew, Prescott and Russell, Lanark, Leeds and Grenville, Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry.

Enbridge customers may be eligible if their total adult household income falls below specified levels. For example, a family of four with an annual household income of $39,500 or less would likely qualify for the program. Households with a person receiving one or more of the following programs may also qualify for the program, provided adult household income falls below specified levels: Ontario Works, Ontario Disability Support Program, Guaranteed Income Supplement, Allowance for Seniors, Allowance for Survivors and the National Child Benefit Supplement.

Participants must live in homes that are at least 25 years old.

Participation in the Home Weatherization Retrofit Program is voluntary and could result in significant energy savings and improved home comfort, while at the same time reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Qualifying customers can receive an energy assessment, followed by the implementation of the most cost-effective energy efficiency upgrades identified.

Last year, more than 200 Enbridge customers qualified for the program. These customers received retrofits that on average delivered more than $2,000 worth of upgrades through the program. To date, participants in the program are saving on average more than $400 a year in natural gas energy costs based on Enbridge Gas Distribution's January 1, 2009 rates.
