Enbridge Gas Distribution Launches Air Door Program in Ontario

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Sept. 26, 2006) - Enbridge Gas Distribution (TSX:ENB) (NYSE:ENB) today announced the launch of the Air Door Program at the Clarkson Pump restaurant in Mississauga, Ontario. The program, which can help Enbridge Gas Distribution's small business customers in Ontario reduce their energy costs, offers Enbridge customers a $300 mail-in rebate on the purchase and installation of an air door between June 1, 2006 and December 31, 2006.

Air doors act as an invisible barrier between indoor and outdoor environments. They create a seal against outdoor air and keep in heat or air-conditioning depending on the season. Advantages include improved temperature control, reduced infiltration of smoke, dirt and smog, and reduced energy costs for heating and cooling.

"The program will help small business owners in Ontario save money and reduce their energy consumption," said Lino Luison, Vice President, Enbridge Gas Distribution. "By providing incentives such as the air door rebate program, we can encourage our customers to reduce energy use to save money while helping the environment."

In addition to the economic savings, there are substantial environmental benefits related to the use of air doors. As the use of natural gas for heating and electricity for air-conditioning is reduced, less greenhouse gas, formed by the production of electricity for air-conditioning and the burning of natural gas, is released into the atmosphere.

Enbridge Gas Distribution estimates that a typical small commercial customer could save approximately 3,000 cubic metres of natural gas for heating and approximately 4,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity for air-conditioning a year. This is based on annual consumption of 44,000 cubic metres of natural gas and 60,000 kWh in electricity.

"I'm thinking about purchasing two more air doors - one for my delivery door and one by the deep freezer - in addition to the four I already have," said Scott Smith, Owner, Clarkson Pump. "Not only do the air doors reduce my energy use, but they even prevent bugs, smoke and dust from entering the restaurant, and that keeps my employees and customers more comfortable."
