Enbridge Gas Distribution and Natural Resources Canada Encourage Customers to Make the Energy-Efficient Choice

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 16, 2005) -

$200 rebate offered on the installation of ENERGY STAR® qualified high-efficiency natural gas furnaces or boilers

Enbridge Gas Distribution (TSX:ENB) (NYSE:ENB) and Natural Resources Canada are teaming up to encourage customers to make the most energy efficient choice, helping them save energy and money.

Enbridge Gas Distribution customers can save $200 on the installation of an ENERGY STAR qualified high-efficiency natural gas furnace with an Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (energy efficiency rating) of 90 per cent or higher or an ENERGY STAR qualified boiler with an Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency of 85 per cent or higher. The rebate is available for heating systems installed to replace any existing system between September 1, 2005 and March 31, 2006. The rebates will be credited to eligible customers' gas accounts.

Enbridge Gas Distribution and Natural Resources Canada are each contributing $100 toward the rebates. A listing of the qualified high-efficiency natural gas furnaces and boilers can be found at www.energystar.gc.ca.

Since 1995, Enbridge Gas Distribution's energy-efficiency programs, including rebates, have reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 4.3 million tonnes and saved more than 2.3 billion cubic metres (m3) of natural gas. That's enough to supply more than 750,000 homes with space and water heating for one year.

"Buying a new furnace is a big expense for homeowners," said Lino Luison, Vice President, Enbridge Gas Distribution. "The $200 rebate will help encourage customers to make the right choice, which in turn will help them save money and benefit the environment."

"The Government of Canada is proud to support this rebate program, which provides Canadians with an opportunity to help meet their One-Tonne Challenge goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent," said the Honourable John McCallum, Minister of National Revenue and Minister of Natural Resources. "By working with industry leaders such as Enbridge, we are encouraging the use of innovative energy technologies that will assist Canada in addressing climate change."

The rebates are available to Enbridge Gas Distribution's residential and small commercial customers. The completed rebate coupon with the bill of sale must be mailed to Enbridge Gas Distribution, Attention: Mass Markets P.O. Box 650, Scarborough, ON M1K 5E3 on or before March 31, 2006. Some restrictions apply.

Copies of the rebate coupons and information about eligibility are available at www.enbridge.com/coupons or by calling 1-877-SAVE-GAS (1-877-728-3427).
