TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 19, 2005) - Enbridge Gas Distribution (TSX:ENB) (NYSE:ENB) is advising customers who may have experienced flooding that resulted in their natural gas appliances, meters or regulators being submerged to call 1-866-763-5427. Enbridge will send out a technician to inspect and, if necessary for safety reasons, turn off the natural gas supply to the premises.
If electrically-operated gas appliances, including those with power vents, or any other electric equipment have been submerged or partially submerged in water, do not enter the flooded area due to a potential electrical shock hazard.
If natural gas equipment has been submerged and is shut off for safety reasons, customers will need to contact a Heating, Venting and Air Conditioning Contractor to have the affected appliance(s) serviced and necessary repairs completed. Enbridge Gas Distribution does not provide this service.
Customers who have a regular service provider, a heating maintenance plan or a rental contract should contact their supplier directly. Customers can also locate a Heating, Venting and Air Conditioning Contractor in the phone book under Heating Contractors or Appliances - Sales & Services, by calling the industry association for heating, refrigeration and air conditioning contractors at 1-877-411-HRAC (4722) or on Technical Standards and Safety Association (TSSA) website at www.tssa.org.
Customers who smell natural gas or are aware of damage to natural gas equipment due to floating debris should also call 1-866-763-5427. Emergency calls will receive top priority.
