Enbridge Gas Distribution Advises Customers to Ask for ID

Enbridge Gas Distribution is a regulated natural gas distribution 
utility that delivers natural gas through an underground distribution 
network. As a regulated utility, Enbridge Gas Distribution does not 
provide retail products or services such as furnace maintenance. 
Enbridge Inc., which owns Enbridge Gas Distribution, has not provided 
retail services such as sales and service of natural gas appliances and 
maintenance contracts since it sold Enbridge Home Services in 2002.

Enbridge Gas Distribution has recently been working with the York 
Regional Police in connection with an ongoing investigation regarding 
individuals who have been fraudulently representing themselves as 
employees of Enbridge to homeowners within York Region. Any inquiries 
related to suspected fraudulent activity should be reported to local 
police.

Homeowners should be aware that Enbridge Gas Distribution does not 
engage in any door-to-door or telephone sales.

Enbridge Gas Distribution representatives may visit a customer's home to 
read, install or relocate a meter, respond to a smell of gas or carbon 
monoxide call, or complete construction work on our distribution 
network. Enbridge Gas Distribution representatives also visit homes to 
deliver energy efficiency programs at no charge to customers.

All Enbridge Gas Distribution representatives who deliver services on 
our behalf will carry picture ID with the Enbridge logo. Residents are 
encouraged to ask to see ID before allowing anyone into their home.

Enbridge Gas Distribution encourages customers to have their natural gas 
appliances serviced regularly by licensed gas technicians or heating 
contractors. Listings for contractors can be found in the phone book 
under Appliances - Sales & Service or Heating Contractors, by speaking 
with your natural gas equipment provider or by contacting the industry 
association for Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Contractors 
at 1-877-411-HRAC (4722) or www.hrac.ca.
